About People and Nature

People and Nature Rwenzori Mountain is a small organisation that makes a big impact, but none of this is possible without your help. If you want to put people at the heart of climate action, please support our work with a donation today. Inspired by our work?

Since the founding of PANR, there have been significant changes in hard-to-reach and hard-to-stay areas. We now have 40 groups, each consisting of 30 members, including networks focused on climate action and effective communication about climate change.

In Uganda, People and Nature Rwenzori Mountain (PANR) is notablefor focusing exclusively on communities in the hard-to-reach and hard-to-stay areas, importantly in engagement with climate change. Every project helps many households, and most especially the youth and women, to think about how they can tell a different climate story. We do this through networking, Farm Field School groups (FFSG), workshops and training, community dialogue meetings and debates in schools, music, dance and drama

Realizing that this unsustainable exploitation of nature and the environment has caused serious effects of deforestation of tropical forests, global climate change and loss of habitat for biodiversity, and that decades of scientific consensus, international summits and traditional environmental campaigns weren’t mobilizing society to take action, so People and Nature was founded purposely to educate and inform people about climate change in a sustainable community based approach.
